A eulogy of Billy Graham from atheist/evolutionist Jerry Coyne

“In all honesty (but I’m always honest, of course), I didn’t know Billy Graham was still alive. It turns out he was 99, and died today at his home in North Carolina.  He was known as the “Pastor to Presidents”, and was there for every American President from Harry Truman through Barack Obama. One of the first televangelists, he was a Southern Baptist estimated to have preached to more humans than anyone in the history of Christianity.  Through his “crusades” (400 of them in 185 countries), he’s said to have persuaded over 3 million people to “accept Jesus Christ as their personal lord and savior.”

What a waste of a life—preaching fiction and delusion to the masses. My sympathies go to his family and friends, but at least one of his sons is continuing the charade.”

This from a man who spent a career fiddling with fruit flies trying to “evolve” them to something else, better and higher on the tree of life.

He failed!

Read the story of Louis Zamperini and the influence of Billy Graham on this WW-II veteran and Japanese POW, then tell me whose life was consequential.

Don’s Plan For Government Shutdown

Given that – The National Debt is at $20 trillion US Dollars and rising.

Given that – The US Congress is primarily responsible for the finances of the Nation.

Therefore – The following plan is proposed for all government  shutdowns.

  • Active duty and reserve military shall not in any way be penalized by the shutdown. All active duty and reserve military shall retain funding, as will all necessary support personnel directly involved in Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of all military units.
In addition, since the government is “shutdown”, the US will presumably be in a more venerable position relative to national security. Therefore active duty military and reserve personnel will be eligible for an increase in pay as negotiated by the newly reconstituted US Congress following shutdown.
  • Salaries of all US Representatives and Senators shall be reduced to 59% of that salary received on the day prior to the shutdown (59% is close enough to the magical 60% vote threshold we hear so much about.)
  • Congressional staff shall be reduced to one and only one junior level administrative assistant – someone to answer phones.
  • All internet services to the US Capital shall be terminated.
  • There shall be no government funded congressional publications produced during the shutdown period.
  • Government funded Congressional transportation of all kinds shall be terminated for the termination of the shutdown. Travel at the members personal expense shall be allowed.
  • Any and all Congressional per-diem shall be terminated for the duration of the shutdown.
  • There shall be absolutely no future reimbursement for loss of salaries or benefits incurred during the shutdown.
  • Redistribution of  income from rich congressional members to those less fortunate shall be encouraged to balance out  “Income Inequality”  among the members.

Given that Civil Service agencies are responsible for the expenditure of the majority of tax-payer funds,  the following Civil Service “streamlining” shall be done:

  • For the duration of the shutdown, there shall be a 20% reduction in the top three levels of Civil Service, skewed heavily towards management positions.  .
  • Post shutdown, Civil Service shall be restructured to achieve a  20% reduction in the head count in the top three levels, skewed heavily towards management positions.

Note that this is a bi-partisan plan.

The Judicial Branch is not to be affected by this plan.

The Executive Branch, typically being the originator of budgets will be addressed via a separate plan.

A Fond Farewell to Good Old Hugh Heffner

Image result for Tidal Waves Earthquakes

In my 70+ years of being blessed by living in what I have considered to be the greatest civilization ever to have graced planet Earth, I’ve nevertheless witnessed  continual waves of destruction against the shores of that civilization.

Hugh Heffner was one such destructive wave.

The beautiful naked ladies were only the unwitting bait, luring a generation of young men to languish, flopping and gasping, on the hot rocking and rolling decks of the good ship “HH Empty Hedonism.”

The Playboy Philosophy – the Playmate of the Month. Enticing and promising, but only shiny plastic and metal – spinning and luring.

A Playmate of the Month? Each month? Every month?  Count me in!

Married? No matter – count me in!

So a substantial number of that generation – my generation – bought into that dream of perpetual fulfillment … renewed monthly.

Then reality came to town. Reality came to that penthouse of our dreams. The fortunate among us were abject failures in reaching for that bait. Frustrated, disappointed and angry. “But you promised!!”

But some had a bit more success and captured a sweetie … perhaps it would seem many among the powerful and elite had a bit of success.

We seem to be witness to an interesting phenomena — the frenzy of accusations against powerful men attacking, abusing and molesting women in their lives. The most prominent being the movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, who at last count has had some 80 women accusing him.

But why this sudden moral outrage, especially among the liberal left? Wasn’t Harvey Weinstein simply and very successfully living out the Playboy Philosophy of a new Playmate every month?

Why was/is Hugh Heffner held up as an icon of modern day sexual liberation and a hedonistic lifestyle? Why when someone actually follows that playbook and is spectacularly successful at it, he is demonized and ostracized?

Mr. Hugh Heffner, even though he is now dead,  deserves to be sent to the trash dump of American culture, along with his destructive so-called philosophy — the same trash dump as Mr. Weinstein has apparently been sent. Whenever the scandal of Weinstein is mentioned, it should be with a hyphenated name “Heffner-Weinstein.”

But this is not likely to happen — just the other day as I was browsing the books and magazines at Target, there it was right before me: A Time Magazine special edition featuring Hugh Heffner, in flattering glory — and a few covers down, a Newsweek cover with a very unflattering Harvey Weinstein glaring from the cover.

How many women, families and children have suffered because of  Hugh Heffner, and those many husbands who followed him and his demonic philosophy?

Beyond He or She

No … a new generation is not redefining the meaning of gender.

This cover and the article would best say “a new generation is fanaticizing on the meaning of gender.”

It is an abomination that a major so-called news magazine would celebrate such a tragic turn of events among young people of this nation, and that’s what they do.

This new generation that has had so little life experience is held up to be redefining; anatomy, biology, culture, religion, history, genetics, sexuality, civility, family, the Bible … God

This new generation – mostly high school age in the article — is held up to having more wisdom than the collective wisdom of the ages

It’s not a new generation, but only a small disturbed part of a younger generation. But … it’s gaining momentum, and these things can quickly poison a culture.

Do they – does anyone – have any idea what future consequences might be in store? Consequences to personal lives and health, disease, suicide, despair, families, culture, liberty? Probably not.

Will Time and others of like mind be help accountable … or will they be celebrated?

Is Truth Dead

I would say that truth has been dead for a long, long time!

Truth is Dead to the left.

The picture above is a recent cover of Time magazine, and if you look at the accompanying article you will see a hit piece on President Donald Trump.

I haven’t followed Time magazine for quite some time, so perhaps some of you can point me to the many similar front page hit pieces against President Barack Obama and/or the left. Please send these:

  • Bush lied babies died.
  • “Shovel Ready Jobs.”
  • If you like your doctor – you can keep your doctor.”  Told ~37 times to ~6,000,000 people who had to change doctors.
  • “If you like your plan– you can keep your plan.”  Told ~37 times to ~6,000,000 people who lost or had to change their plans.
  • “Average family health care costs will come down an average $2,500 per year.” Costs actually rose, some dramatically.
  • “Benghazi attack was caused by an anti-Islam American film maker.”

And from a previous article I wrote:

  • I will have the most transparent administration in history.
  • The stimulus will fund shovel-ready jobs.
  • I am focused like a laser on creating jobs.
  • The IRS is not targeting anyone.
  • It was a spontaneous riot about a movie.
  • If I had a son.
  • I will put an end to the type of politics that “breeds division, conflict and cynicism”.
  • You didn’t build that!
  • I will restore trust in Government.
  • The Cambridge cops acted stupidly.
  • The public will have 5 days to look at every bill that lands on my desk
  • It’s not my red line – it is the world’s red line.
  • Whistle blowers will be protected in my administration.
  • We got back every dime we used to rescue the banks and auto companies, with interest.
  • I am not spying on American citizens.
  • Obama Care will be good for America.
  • You can keep your family doctor. [AYFP: this lie was spoken 37 times to the 6+ million people whose insurance plans have been cancelled]
  • Premiums will be lowered by $2500.
  • If you like it, you can keep your current healthcare plan.
[AYFP: this lie was spoken 37 times to the 6+ million people whose insurance plans have been cancelled]
  • It’s just like shopping at Amazon.
  • I knew nothing about “Fast and Furious” gunrunning to Mexican drug cartels.
  • I knew nothing about IRS targeting conservative groups.
  • I knew nothing about what happened in Benghazi.

And another article on truth and Presidential Trust:

Perhaps truth is dead at Time magazine.

But I’ll be waiting for those articles.

Asking the Right Questions: My Visit to Brown University and MIT

No – this was not my, AYFPs visit, but rather a fellow named Brian Miller.

Some excerpts:

“ … Several of the participants had never heard the evidence for design, so they were visibly struck by its weight and the enormity of its implications. The questions were particularly thoughtful, sincere, and relevant. They were also very common in such discussions, so I thought I would address each of them.  … “

“ … The students commented that they very much enjoyed the discussion, since they never hear the design perspective. And the vast majority wished to stay connected with the sponsoring groups for future conversations. If only all academics could learn to ask the right questions and demonstrate such open mindedness and such a desire for truth. … “

This article is quite fascinating. As the two excerpts point out, some (many?) students at these prestigious universities had never heard the design perspective as applied to biology and life. This is not surprising since the Darwinian evolutionists have had a censoring choke hold on such discussions for many years (see my article at:

So it is quite refreshing that perhaps a toe-hold has been established in the land of Ivy League (I live just a short bus ride from Yale).

I have to wonder though if these events were actually sanctioned by Brown and MIT, or were they off campus and sponsored by some rebellious truth seeking students.    Dr. Miller refers to ‘sponsoring groups ‘ so perhaps it’s wishful thinking on my part to think that Ivy has actually stepped up to taking a look at Intelligent Design – but it seems that some of the students are looking.

Dr. Miller has a BA in Physics from MIT and a PhD in Physics from Duke.
