Good bye Thomas Jefferson —

From the Connecticut Post – my home state.

“ … In Connecticut, the revisionist sentiment has extended in some quarters to non-Confederate figures. The state Democratic Party will decide this month whether to strip the names of two slave-owning U.S. presidents, Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson, from the moniker of its 67-year-old annual fundraising dinner. The party’s chairman, Nick Balletto, said the shooting made him think about how the party has changed and “history has not been kind” to Jefferson and Jackson. … “

This is rich. It’s hard to make this stuff up.

Now the Democratic Party … the party of slavery … the party of the KKK … the party of segregation … the party of Bull Conner … the party of George Wallace … the party of the slave holding  Confederacy … the party of the attack dogs and the fire hoses … the party of the lynch mobs … the party that blocked all meaningful civil rights legislation sponsored by Republicans from the end of the Civil Was up to Lyndon Baines Johnson … the party that created todays welfare system that has devastated the black American family by driving out fathers from the family … and there’s more … .

Now they want to dump Thomas Jefferson — they would dump George Washington as well, but Washington was not a party man:

“ … However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion. … “GEORGE WASHINGTON, Farewell Address, Sep. 17, 1796

And of course they would also dump Abraham Lincoln, except that they had already done that when they went to a treasonous war of succession to defend slavery (racism) at the minor expense of 600,000 + young lives.

So that gets us to Lyndon Baines Johnson as the earliest potential for the Connecticut Democrats to replace Jefferson and Jackson as their figure head  … except:

“Now, like any of us, he was not a perfect man,” Obama said in his April 10, 2014, speech at the Civil Rights Summit at the LBJ Presidential Library. “His experiences in rural Texas may have stretched his moral imagination. But he was ambitious, very ambitious, a young man in a hurry to plot his own escape from poverty and to chart his own political career. And in the Jim Crow South, that meant not challenging convention.

During his first 20 years in Congress,” Obama said, “he opposed every civil rights bill that came up for a vote, once calling the push for federal legislation a farce and a shame.”

And now we have Timothy Egan , a disingenuous Democratic Party mouthpiece … did I say disingenuous … I meant to say liar … calling Republicans racist. Disgusting !!

So here’s a bit of advice for the Democratic party …

Keep Jefferson — dump Jackson … dump Obama … dump all Clintons!

Clean house Democrats … and oh by the way, apologize for the slavery and the lynch mobs you were so fond of.

  1. Thanks Fufygyuigfr – and nice try – But that’s in the 1960s and what is said in the article is debatable.

But what about the long history of Democratic Party racism and slavery preceding the 1960s?
What about Andrew Jackson and his Indian Wars of eradication?
What about the slave holders in the South – mainly Democrats?
What about those Democrat slave holders and their treasonous Civil War costing the lives of some 600,000+ young lives – mostly young white boys?
What about the almost century long period of shameful segregation perpetrated for the most part by Democrats?
What about the KKK and the highly revered Democrat Robert Byrd?
What about those Southern Democrat public officials such as Lester Maddox, George Wallace, Bull Connor and more …

The ongoing effort on the part of Democrats and Liberals, including the New York Times to shift the shameful racist history of the Democratic Party to Republicans is shameful and disgusting.

I suggest you and your liberal Democrat party fess up to this record and issue your own apology for slavery and acknowledge the true record of Republicans to end slavery and bring equality to all Americans.

  2. Funny how this whole apology thing is such a meme these days across the right wing websites. Whatever. Whatever makes you feel better about you and your party. Fact is, those that were the most overtly racist were democrats. Then the civil rights act passed and the southern racists made the switch over the years to go republican. Whatever. No need to be so angry about it. “Shameful and disgusting” heh. It’s all just
Politics. One side feigning insult to try and score some points.
