I remember Glenn Beck saying, about 4 years ago, that Barack Obama intends to make the US Congress obsolete.
The picture above documents the validity of Mr. Beck’s statement, and shows the irrelevance of the Congress.
You do remember the structure of the Constitution do you not, with its separation of powers and all that? You know; Article I – Article II and Article III.
Do you see that small stack of paper on top of the right hand cabinet? Well, in that stack is are the laws passed by elected members of Congress and signed into law by the president.
Now read what James Madison had to say about the size and complexity of laws:
“It will be of little avail to the people that the laws are made by men of their own choice if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood.” Federalist 62
That small stack of paper is what Madison intended – it is also what the signers of the Constitution intended. And, since we have not had another revolution in this country (yet), nor have we had another Constitutional Convention, I believe the small stack of paper is what most of us believe the Constitution still means … government of We the People … not government by the Executive branch alone and countless unelected and unaccountable bureaucrats.
The rest of the stuff in the three cabinets? The 2013 Federal Register, containing 80,000 pages of new rules, regulations, and notices all written and passed by unelected bureaucrats.
So what this means is that Congress (the Democrat controlled Congress) has abdicated their role as defined by the Constitution of the United States and has given total control of this nation over to the Executive Branch – and to the bureaucrats apparatus as is shown in the picture.
Benjamin Franklin at the conclusion of the Constitutional Convention was asked “What have you given us?” His reply – “a republic if you can keep it.”
It appears we have lost the Republic.
