In the early 1980s my wife and I became Christians and soon thereafter became aware of the very real danger that our daughter, at the time in her pre teens, faced in the public schools. You see, it was possible that our teenager at some point would become pregnant and be sent without our permission, or even knowledge, to an abortion clinic. We moved her out of the public schools at that point and enrolled her in a Christian junior high and subsequently a Christian senior high school in the San Diego area. She did not get pregnant out of wedlock, and went on to marry a fine young man and has raised three fine children in subsequent years.
Fast forward to 2013 and my fears have been rekindled, this time for my now 10 year old granddaughter who is enrolled in the public school system.
Have you heard of the serial murder trial of abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell in Philadelphia PA? Probably not unless you are in that tiny … tiny sliver of the adult populace reading and watching something other than the main stream media. We first saw the Gosnell story on Fox News a few weeks back.
So let’s take a look at what this story is all about by reading some excerpts from the actual grand jury report which precipitated this case (note that these words are not from any right wing talk show host or Fox News, but from a governmental agency):
The “Women’s Medical Society.” That was the impressive-sounding name of the clinic operated in West Philadelphia, at 38th and Lancaster, by Kermit B. Gosnell, M.D. Gosnell seemed impressive as well. A child of the neighborhood, Gosnell spent almost four decades running this clinic, giving back – so it appeared – to the community in which he continued to live and work.
But the truth was something very different, and evident to anyone who stepped inside. The clinic reeked of animal urine, courtesy of the cats that were allowed to roam (and defecate) freely. Furniture and blankets were stained with blood. Instruments were not properly sterilized. Disposable medical supplies were not disposed of; they were reused, over and over again. Medical equipment – such as the defibrillator, the EKG, the pulse oximeter, the blood pressure cuff – was generally broken; even when it worked, it wasn’t used. The emergency exit was padlocked shut. And scattered throughout, in cabinets, in the basement, in a freezer, in jars and bags and plastic jugs, were fetal remains. It was a baby charnel house.
Was this the kind of clinic my daughter could have been sent to in the early 1980s? Is this the kind of clinic my granddaughter could be sent to in the future, again without parental permission or notification? Is this the kind of clinic that unknown numbers of teenagers and young adult girlfriends have gone to throughout the nation?
Nobody really knows except that in this one case of a Dr. Gosnell he is charged with the murder of seven babies born alive, and of a mother in a tragically botched abortion. The good “doctor” has been in business for many years and this indictment is but the tip of a very dirty and ugly iceberg. It remains unknown at this point what else will be revealed at the trial.
As troubling as these murders are, the parallel black out and censure of these events and the trial itself by the main stream media is appalling but not surprising. Many kudos are owed to people like Kirsten Powers (a Fox News contributor by the way) for driving this trial, and the horrors it contains, from utter darkness to the sunlight of exposure.
More can be read in the stories I link to below, and I would strongly encourage you to pass this along.
Some companion items should also be pointed out at this point which adds to the sheer depravity of the Gosnell case:
- MSNBC host and University professor Melissa Harris-Perry claims that “Your Kids Belong to the ‘Whole Community’.”
- Planned Parenthood Official Argues for Right to Post-Birth Abortion
Both of these ‘points of view’ highlight the probability that more and more cases like the Gosnell case will occur in the future, and all under the auspices and authority of a tyrannical government who will continue to take the children away from the parents.
