Why Do Blacks Overwhelmingly Embrace the Racist Democratic Party?

For quite some time now I have been puzzling over why the American black population supports and votes overwhelmingly Democrat given the sordid history of that party’s racial record.

In reviewing the history of the Democratic party, we see it as the party of slavery, as the party of post-civil war segregation, as the party of the KKK, as the party of Jim Crow laws in the deep South, as the party of Bull Conner and George Wallace, as the party of separate drinking fountains, as the party of blacks to the back of the bus, as the party of school segregation and more. This is the party that successfully resisted any and all civil rights legislation introduced by Republicans in Congress from the Civil War on to 1965 when the Democrat President Lyndon Baines Johnson signed the land mark voting rights act of 1965.

It must be remembered that the same Lyndon Johnson blocked similar legislation during his long tenure  serving in the US Senate.

It must also be remembered that President Lincoln and the Republican party abolished slavery in the United States and has been in the forefront of meaningful Civil Rights legislation ever since.

So how to figure? How does this brutal record square with a 95-96% black voter support of Barack Hussein Obama in the 2008 and 2012 elections?

It seems I am not the only one pondering this question; a black Tea Party activist Lloyd Marcus addresses the question in several of his essays such as: Obama’s Legacy on Black America, An Angry Black Man and others here at http://www.americanthinker.com/lloyd_marcus/ seem to provide some insight; insight from a black American  who falls outside that 96% demographic.

Can Mr. Marcus’s observations and questions be backfilled to 1965 and the years of LBJs “War on Poverty” and the massive social welfare programs that ensued?  Did President Johnson and the Democratic Party seize on the politically expedient  Civil Rights movement as exemplified by Dr. Martin Luther King, and did this strategic shift on the part of the Democrats also involve a clever and very effective (and diabolically wrong) shift of racial hatred to the Republican party?

Listen to some of Mr. Marcus’s anguish in his essays: “Like millions of Americans, my heart is broken for my country.  Years of liberals indoctrinating our kids K through college and liberal bias in the media have created a wasteland of dumbed down idiot voters.  Far too many Americans are clueless as to the greatness of our republic and the extraordinary cost and value of freedom which is our God-given birthright.
I am angry over the willful ignorance and racism of black America.”

“Beyond the catastrophic economic issues, Americans cried when Obama won re-election because of the death of an ideal.  This dictator appears to have transformed America from being a shining example of the virtues of a free society into a nation of deadbeats in which class envy and government dependency rule.  So yes, I am very angry.”

Here’s more of Mr. Marcus:
”Here’s a prime example: a white caller on a national radio program said his black friend was petrified to attend a Tea Party rally.  Team Obama had him convinced that the Tea Party is the modern version of the KKK.  Remember when the Congressional Black Caucus said the Tea Party wants blacks hung from trees?  A shameful, outrageous, hate-inspiring lie — but no rebuke from the MSM suggesting that the Dems “moderate their tone.”

“Apparently, to the MSM, I am an invisible black man.  Since Obama took office, I have been a high-profile figure at several hundred Tea Party rallies and events.  For crying out loud, I even wrote the “American Tea Party Anthem.”  Still, for the most part, the MSM have done everything in their power to keep minorities in the movement nonexistent.”

“That scared black guy did eventually attend a Tea Party with his white friend.  He was surprised to be treated with respect as an equal rather than a victim in need of assistance, which was the “tone” of the Democrat rallies he attended.”

And more:
Black racists and white Obama sympathizers, please consider coming up to a higher level.  Civil rights icon Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. dreamed of an America where individuals are judged by the content of their character rather than the color of their skin.  To vote skin color is to dishonor Dr. King’s sacrifice and his legacy.”

These snippets are not my own, a white Conservative, non-racist Republican; they are from this man

But they fully resonate in me as an American.

I close with a snippet of my own from a recent essay:
”In this election of 2012 we have betrayed Dr. King and his dream. The election was won almost entirely by appealing to people based on the color of their skin; on their gender, on their age, on their economic status; on anything and everything but the content of their character.  I believed Dr. King when he said those words in 1963 and still believe them today, and I beg of you to not let such an election happen again in your lifetime.”
